About SARAH

Designer | Mover | Mama

I design spaces that exude wonder, anchored in restorative beauty.

I believe home is not simply “where the heart is”
but where the heart is nourished.

This is the canvas upon which your life unfolds.

Make it beautiful.

Nature is my muse, children are my gurus,
color is my jam.

This where comfort meets creativity.
Old and new, custom and flea-found,
hand-hewn and cutting-edge.
I love contrast, textiles, texture.

Innovative conceptualization merging with conscious manifestation.

I work with a collective of artists and creators to help mold your home into a uniquely curated sanctuary for you and your loved ones.

I believe beauty is powerful. Aesthetically pleasing spaces can inspire, relax and transform. When experienced with others, beauty supports connection; the very foundation of relationship family, friendship, community.

Beauty can heal.

Start at home.

Weave magic into your walls.

This is What I Love

For over 30 summers of my life, I made pilgrimage to a hundred-year-old red-roofed stone cottage on Lake Huron, passed from my great-grandparents to my grandmother and her six siblings.

Like me, my grandmother and my mother spent their summers sleeping behind creaky screen doors, next to cracking fires and awoke to the sounds of those same doors slamming along with a chorus of giggles as droves of cousins trickled down a moss-drenched path, jumping one-by-one off wooden dock into the lap of the lake.

The resonance of this cottage as a life-giving space is steeped in my bones. I was raised on the potency of a great room where generations could share stories on chaise lounges and roll-arm chairs or play cards on long wooden tables that would later hold supper.

I used to craft performances with my cousins behind the magic of thick curtains and I can still feel four yellow walls surrounding me as I remember butter-toast mornings with my Dad in the kitchen nook.

I am one of many who also hold cherished memories given to them by these same spaces, chairs, doors, walls, blankets and beyond.

The power of a home, a cottage, a place and the signature of its aesthetic is not lost on me, it lives within me.

This is what I love.

When my husband and I sought to start a life and a family together, we dreamt of a dwelling that could ignite magic within its walls. We yearned for a place that could inspire us to live from our hearts, a home that could remind us where to find ourselves if we ever got lost.

When a hundred-year-old red-roofed stone cottage in Colorado came on our radar, we heard the call and crossed our fingers. Through a series of synchronicities, the home became “ours” and we understood the very real gift and honor of stewardship that had been bestowed upon us in the exchange.

Here, we live in constant communion with what was and what wants to be. I can feel the magic infused by the history and hands that came before us, those who nurtured the walls and windows, the garden and the land.

Amidst this home’s landscape, lakes are replaced by rolling hills, fish with bears and bobcats. But there are rocks covered in moss and fields of golden halm. And there are screen doors that slam here too, fires that crackle, roll arm chairs for conversation, wooden tables for cards and meals and colorful splashes on almost every wall.

And yet this place, like every home, has a life and narrative of its own. This home carries its unique fingerprint of possibility, the unique way it frames sunlight through its double-hung panes, the story it tells through the grooves in its hundred-year old wood floors. This home weaves its own web of promise, inspiration and healing.

I’ve been lucky enough to be in relationship with two homes who’s physical anchor of stability has seeded my mind and heart with a lens of both magic and majesty. When life gets hard, I find myself diving more deeply into our nest as a place to anchor and restore my energy so that I can meet the world from a place of integrity and authenticity.

I believe peace on earth begins home.

The way a space holds us can inspire the way we hold ourselves and therein the way we hold the world around us.

I see my work as a designer as an opportunity honor the collaboration between the walls themselves and the hearts that live within them. This is what inspires me to share the intelligence of design in ways that serve human spirit.

From fabric to functionality, everything I curate as a designer stems from my desire to reveal the soul of a home and its inhabits.
